Out of Darkness

by Ashley Hope Perez

It's What We’re Reading Wednesday and we're recommending the powerful "Out of Darkness" by Ashley Hope Perez!

This heart-wrenching story explores a small East Texas community forever marked by the New London school bombing. At its core, it's a beautiful but tragic story of young love between a Mexican-American girl and an African-American boy.

Heads up: This book tackles heavy topics. But if you're looking for a beautifully written story that explores race, loss, and resilience, we highly recommend it!
