For "What we're up to..." Wednesday we are recommending IN THE DREAM HOUSE: A MEMOIR, by Carmen Maria Machado.

We do want to provide a trigger warning, as the book chronicles an abusive relationship. However, Machado tells the story in short, personal vignettes, that feel more surreal than graphic. She breaks boundaries with her willingness to explore taboo topics and her references to fairytales, classic literature, and even pop culture, give us a chilling look into how we internalize stories - for better or worse.
